Baking day!

Today I had the whole day to myself! All my friends are either working or studying for exams, in army or overseas, and my boyfriend is  on shift until Monday. So.. I really had nothing else better to do. Hahaha!

Anyway here is breakfast!

Green tea, 2 oranges and 3 slices of apple

There weren't a lot of options for me to choose from today as my refrigerator was pretty empty. Plus I didn't want to have eggs again, so I just grabbed the apple slices (remainder from my parents' breakfast I suppose) and some oranges.

It was actually quite filling! Then I wanted to bake but I didn't have enough ingredients, so I went to play Sims 4.. again.. Haha I pretty much went to download custom content. Made me feel like I'm shopping but "shopping" for new clothes and hairstyles for my sims. Lol. Story of my life when I have no one to go out with. So just in case you also play sims and don't know what custom content is, it is basically downloadable content for sims! You can download new hairstyles, clothes, shoes, accessories etc etc.

It definitely makes your sims look so much better! And quite realistic.

Well I'm sorry the first part of this post is actually quite boring. There wasn't anything new either. Haha.

Here is my mid morning snack!

1 banana and 10 almonds
So just a little bit more on why I have 5-6 small meals a day. Well, the logic behind it from what I have researched is that have 5-6 small meals a day, each about 2-3 hours apart, helps to keep your metabolism working.

I wouldn't know whether it speeds up my metabolism or not, but I do know that I don't feel as hungry and overeat anymore. In the past when I used to eat 3 meals a day, I'd snack so much in between cause I was either getting hungry, or I was emotionally snacking. I'm sure you get that too, the snacking on chocolates or biscuits when you're stressed etc. Hahahah if only stress burned calories too!!! But at least now I am in more control of how much I eat, and don't feel as hungry!

Now here's lunch!

Last night's dinner

See? I told you my whole morning till afternoon was boring. I know I could have exercised but I prefer exercising at night.

So it brings me to the topic of exercising at different times of the day. Of course there are studies which say exercising first thing in the morning is more effective. However, I have been able to lose quite a bit of weight and I constantly exercise at night right before I shower and sleep. And besides, I'm not gonna wake up extra early to exercise. I'd most likely just roll over and continue sleeping!

Therefore, honestly in my opinion, I don't think it really matters which part of the day you exercise. I think some people just like exercising in the morning because they feel that it gives them more energy to start their day! Which is great!! I wish that were the case for me. So far I always just feel like sleeping after a workout cause I tired myself out a lot. Hence why I do it before I sleep, so that I can get a good night's rest! (Or else I will wake up multiple times in the middle of the night)

On to mid afternoon snack! (yes I finally could have a mid afternoon snack :P)

Plain wholemeal wrap and Skippy's peanut butter
Oh yes, I know Skippy's peanut butter isn't exactly the best option if you want to lose weight. But it is still peanut butter and it tastes good! I ran out of natural peanut butter that my family had bought from America the last time we were there, so Skippy's it was!

Of course as you can see, I spread a thin layer. It was good enough. If I was the old me or having a cheat meal, I swear I'd be applying a very VERY thick layer of peanut butter on it. It tasted so good :( I want moreeeeeeeee

Almost had a second one... or you know.. had a spoon of peanut butter. BUT I limited myself and stopped with the wrap. And I got myself busy so I won't think about snacking! So here is the fun part, I made Japanese mushi cakes!!!

The cakes in the making! (I honestly thought I'd fail xD)

First batch out of the steamer!! Oh so pretty~

Done with the second batch!! :D
So basically, these cakes are steamed. I was pretty lazy to use my oven for anything anyway. So I went online and searched for recipes for Japanese steam cakes. Why Japanese steam cakes? Cause I just had the BEST STEAM CAKE EVER!!!!! Like a few days ago! It's a strawberry flavoured steam cake which can be bought from a bakery called Sun Moulin. It is at Isetan Scotts. I SWEAR it is the best!! The texture of the cake is so so soft it feels like as if you're eating cotton candy!!! (of course the cake doesn't melt in your mouth but it was almost there)

This is what it looks like! (photo found on google)

It tastes like heaven~This is what it looks like!!
If you ever happen to go to town, it is a MUST TRY! It is a really light snack. Of course you also can't have this too often as it is after all, still a cake :( So you can have this when you're having your cheat meal or something! The steam cakes I made were no where near the one from Sun Moulin. But I know that there a a lot of different recipes online, so I will just try them until I get one that is close enough to the one from Sun Moulin!!

Why go through the trouble of making it when I can just buy it? Well.. Cause I'd rather just stay at home and make it instead of go out into Orchard which is packed with people I can hardly walk normally. No kidding.

Yea so enough of me blabbering about how good the steam cake from Sun Moulin is. Haha. (Just to let you know, there are other flavours like cheese, chocolate and I can't remember the last one but I think it is Earl Grey. Sorry that I'm not too sure, they don't exactly have a website >.<)

Anyway here is dinner!!! :P

Stir fried fish cake, long beans and tofu, eaten with lettuce
Mum cooked dinner and it probably will be my lunch tomorrow too. I can't eat any meat on Fridays now until lent period is over. This is the sacrifice my mum wants our family to make for lent this year. I don't mind really. I do love fish cake!

The dish was lightly seasoned with salt and white pepper, soya sauce and sesame oil. The soya sauce and sesame oil mostly just give the tofu and long beans taste since the fish cake is already salty enough.

This is my mother's idea of cooking smart. And I agree. It is a very flexible dish which you can have with anything! You can have it with rice/brown rice, porridge, noodles, pasta (even though this is a more Asian dish) and you can even eat it with a wrap. You can also add carrots or corn or minced meat. It really is that flexible! Plus you get to eat your greens and get some protein from the tofu. So this is still quite healthy!! Just don't go overboard with the sauces or oils that you use to cook it, or it can go from a healthy dish to an unhealthy one pretty easily.

So yes! Healthy eating doesn't always mean salad and steamed chicken breast meat. Sometimes dishes like these are healthy too!

After dinner I did do my Week 1 Day 2 workout from the Four Weeks to Fit guide. It's still pretty easy since it is only week 1. But I could definitely feel that my arms were a bit weak when I was shampooing my hair! If you want to know what the guide is all about, you can read it in my 12 March 2015 post. The link is there too!

And here I am now! Will be sleeping soon.

Tomorrow I will be going for a buffet dinner! It is a department dinner. I haven't gone to eat any buffet since I started my healthy eating and exercising. So this will be interesting!! Hopefully I can discover tricks to prevent myself from overeating.

So until then, Goodnight!! :))
